Boomers grew up listening to music made in the great cities of 20th century America:  Detroit, Philly, Chicago, San Francisco, the deep South.

So its surprising to note that there are currently three big rock acts from Las Vegas, a relatively new city without an identifiable image, other than gambling, and certainly not known for its deep musical roots.

There’s The Killers (we love that band) with their Top 10 alternative hit “Run For Cover” (BMU2/5/18) https://boomermusicupdate.com/alternative/born-run-run-cover/, and Imagine Dragons, who chart top 10 on both Top 40 and Adult Top 40 playlists.

And a third “big and important “ Las Vegas group is Panic! At The Disco, who have been on the rock scene for a decade+. Their latest hit “Say Amen (Saturday Night)”  is full-on rock that delivers its message with super charged energy, a rock essential, that’s reminiscent of Lynyrd Skynrd’s  “Saturday Night Special.”

Warning #1

If reading about these new Vegas based groups makes you feel “old,” ignore that feeling, turn up the volume on Lynyrd Skynrd, and remind yourself that there are almost as many Boomers as Millennials, that we have more money than they do, and everybody knows our generation’s music was the best

Warning #2:

The video to “Say Amen (Saturday Night)” is very, very violent.
