Be there or be square.

Miley Cyrus’ “Malibu” is looming as one of this year‘s first, and perhaps defining, summer songs.

It’s up-tempo, but unlike traditional “summer songs” it’s not overly peppy or bouncy, rather “Malibu” feels and sounds similar to 1988’s “I Get Weak”  by ex-Go-Go member Belinda Carlisle.  Both of those songs are contented women relishing their love life, and in both videos, the singers prance, preen, and tousle their hair.

“Malibu” is already charting “Top 30” and all signs point to it rapidly going much higher.  BTW, in less than two weeks, it’s generated over 71 million youtube views.

One might say that May is the month of Cyrus!  Although Miley is the family super-star, Dad Billy Ray Cyrus has new version out of his 1992 novelty sensation “Achy Breaky Heart” as the song celebrates its 25th anniversary and Miley’s younger sister, Noah, a relative new comer, is gaining Top 40 traction for the second time with her “Stay Together.”
