Remember how exciting Paul Simon’s “Graceland” sounded, back in 1988? All those unusual sounds and rhythms, mixed up in the most magical way.
Australian singer/songwriter Vance Joy is not the creative force that Paul Simon is, but he’s very good, and his new release, “Fire & The Flood” has similar underpinnings and that rhythmic feel that we heard in “Graceland.”
Vance Joy hit the big-time in 2013 with the massive hit “Riptide,” about the tumult of desire and love. You’ll hear it the gym or at the grocery store.
“Fire and the Flood,” his follow-up, also about the tumult of desire and love, and currently #3 on the “Alternative” chart, has a catchy hook, a forceful melody, captivating lyrics and a blend of unique instrumentation and production techniques.
