Even though Flo Rida is a bald, buff rapper in his 30s and I’m a Baby Boomer who works at corporate sales and marketing, he and I have similarities: we are both from Florida, we both like to chill at home–sometimes with champagne–and we both believe fun is an essential element.

After that, we couldn’t be more different, age notwithstanding, and rap music isn’t even on my radar screen.

But personal tastes and generational perspectives aside, OF COURSE I like ”My House,” Flo Rida’s latest, which is currently #3 on the Top 40 chart. It’s bouncy and bubbly as Flo sings about his good fortune in life.  He is all about having fun and inviting audiences to do the same. He has the gift of making it sound as if we could actually drop in, and he’d invite us on up.  He’s welcoming and inclusive–we can all have fun, there’s enough for everyone, even a Baby Boomer woman of a certain age.

“My House” is mindless –great to listen to if you need a burst of energy, or if you are stuck in traffic, and want to fill your brain with images of good times and your ears with an hyp-not-ic hook.

“My House” took off after Flo’s January performance at “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The song has sold over one million copies.

If it sounds familiar it could be because it was used in a Pizza Hut ad that aired during Super Bowl 50.

If you are into wrestling, you may have heard it used as theme song for WWE’s WrestleMania 32
