This coming Monday marks the 50th anniversary of Brian Wilson’s timeless masterpiece, “Pet Sounds,” ranked by Rolling Stone as the #2 album ALL TIME right behind The Beatles “Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.”
A “50th Anniversary Collectors Edition” will be released next month (June 10th) with dozens of mixes and outtakes on 4CDs in Blue Ray audio, a hardbound book and much more.
Later, an additional “Collectors Edition” will be available, with other audio enhancements, and then, in the Fall, a “commemorative” release of “Good Vibrations,” which was #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in December 1966.
One can only marvel when considering that a song such as “God Only Knows” was written by a 24-year old creative genius who, for over five decades, has given the world so much joy with his music.
