I’d probably snort if you suggested I’d fall for a band with a name like “Cage the Elephant” except that I know that last November Boomer Music Update raved about that same band’s #1 Alternative hit, “Mess Around.” https://boomermusicupdate.com/alternative/for-a-good-time-watch-this-video/

This very inventive group breaks all the rules. They go where the music takes them, pleasing their longtime fans, and enticing the new ones.  Words like original and imaginative come to mind.

Their latest single, “Trouble,” is Top Five/ Alternative radio and almost that on Adult Alternative charts.

The lyrics and story line are pretty abstract, (very) vaguely a man/woman thing.

Trouble on my left, trouble on my right
I’ve been facing trouble almost all my life
My sweet love, won’t you pull me through?
Everywhere I look I catch a glimpse of you

Their previous video, for “Mess Around,” was a “must watch”— creative and groundbreaking –over the top visually and conceptually, a real match for the band.  The video for “Trouble,” while eye-catching, is less inventive and entertaining: an old fashioned cowboy duel in the desert, a death, remorse, costumes reminiscent of the French court of King Louie XVI, with random shots of wild eyes, snakes, and flowers.  A tad pretentious.

I said it was love and I did it for life (did-did it for you)
Ooooo-oooooh
