Let’s get right to it:  “Lemonade” by Adam Friedman (and featuring Mike Posner)
is a Must. Listen. To.  One of this year’s feel good summer songs.  Just listening to it evokes the sound of waves lapping at the shore, and the title “Lemonade,” is as much a symbol of summer in America as is the beach.

Melodically, “Lemonade”  is similar to  “Walking In Memphis,” the Marc Cohn hit of the early 90’s.  There are some thematic similarities, too –both are about a young man embarking on a journey: in “Lemonade,” he’s off to Southern California, looking for romance with a cute brunette;  in “Walking in Memphis,” the “everyman” seeks to connect with the music.

Just listening to “Lemonade” I felt like I was 17-years old, sunning on the beach, meeting guys.

Re: the lyrics to each song:  Let’s not parse too much: maybe what these men seek is as much inside themselves as that which can be found in a new location, reality notwithstanding: Southern California IS a good place to hook up with a cute brunette—it’s been a destination since the Beach Boys invented it, 50 years ago, and Memphis is and was the Mid-South hub for both black and white culture, especially music.  Elvis.  W.C. Handy.  Sun Records.

“Lemonade” features Mike Posner, who is currently enjoying his own massive summer smash “I Took A Pill In Ibiza.”

Adam Friedman is a singer/songwriter from Scottsdale, AZ.
