Boomers have been known to get smug about how great “our” music was, back in the 70s and 80s, with smooth, thoughtful, elegant but relatable songs like “I’d Love You To Want Me” by Lobo.

Then along comes a new song, “All We Ever Knew,” by Seattle based, five-member band The Head and The Heart, that, melodically, is a throwback to that folk pop 70s and 80s sound, and I’m reminded that there is great stuff out there today, too.

Emotionally charged lyrics (man/woman relationship) wrapped in a contagious melody make you want to sing along– it’s catchy enough to possibly cross over into Pop.

The star of The Head and The Heart is Josiah Johnson, who does vocals, guitar and percussion.

Lobo’s  “I’d Love You To Want Me” reached #3 in 1972;  “All We Ever Knew” is currently #1 on the Adult Alternative chart.
