Bastille.  A 4-man English indie pop band that’s captured the hearts and minds of music fans world-wide.

“Good Grief” is their newest hit and its opening bass line is similar to the underpinning that Queen and David Bowie brought us in 1981’s classic “Under Pressure” which, btw,  still sounds fresh and modern with relevant content even thought it’s 35 years old.

Bastille had massive success in 2013 with an album that entered the British charts at #1, and then a single (“Pompeii”)—which sold millions and was a smash hit on both rock and pop radio.

In August they released their follow up album and within days it was #1 in Britain.

The way the music business works: Often a song breaks on “alternative” and then crosses over to Top 40, and that’s the case here.  “Good Grief” is #1 on the U.S. Alternative chart and is making quick inroads on Top 40.  You’ll probably hear it at the mall or in restaurants.

All that aside, the band is exciting and Boomer-friendly (read: relatable) and the lyrics as good as any 70’s song about a boy and a girl in an on/off relationship. And the intro is a shoo-in for “Best 15-second Open for a Rock Song in  2016.”

Not an “official  “Must Listen” to but on the QT, yeah, it’s a must listen to.
