As long as men drink and dream about pretty women and a life on the beach, there will be a song about it, and odds are it will include tequila.

In 1977 Jimmy Buffet’s “Margaritaville” took its rightful place in the zeitgeist. He became a pop culture icon, tequila became permanently cool, and the song evolved into shorthand for a certain life-style and attitude and maybe even philosophy.

Country superstar Kenny Chesney had a hit a song about tequila, too– “You And Tequila” –but apparently he’s not a finicky drinker, because he also had a hit with “Beer In Mexico” and there’s a line in his duet with Pink (his 23rd #1), that goes “Yeah we got drunk on La Cienega Boulevard.

Chesney’s latest release, soon to be a hit, because all his songs are hits, is a drinking song with a world-class title:  “Bar At The End Of The World.”  It’s mid-tempo Country-pop with OK but not outstanding lyrics that tell an OK, but not outstanding story of a couple sailing under the stars, she so memorable in a t-shirt, with the wind blowing in her hair.

Chesney exploded on the scene 20-some years ago, and he still sells out stadium shows in minutes.  He’s only planned on one performance in 2017, but demand at the venue was so high a second show was added.
¡Viva Tequila!
