The New Pornographers are a seven-piece Canadian band that has the same nutty, wild, raucous, hopping, joyous sound that is The B-52s.
“High Ticket Attraction,” which tells a vague story that might be about a trip, or just moving around, is a descendant of The B52’s 1990 Grammy nominated “Roam,” which also might be about a trip or maybe just moving around.
In both songs, the words work together even if they don’t make much sense –it’s the high-energy music and the craziness of the singers that’s memorable. If you like one, it’s a good bet you like the other.
Notable: One of the band’s members is Neko Case, who’s had a successful solo career in the indie rock and Americana formats.
About that name: The bands name was inspired by a Japanese movie titled “The Pornographers.”
“High Ticket Attraction” is currently Top 20 on Adult Alternative radio.
