Add some zippy, finger snappin’ music to these opening lines, and you’ll have the feel good song of the season:
Happy people don’t cheat
Happy people don’t lie
They don’t judge or hold a grudge
They don’t criticize
Happy people don’t hate
Happy people don’t steal
Cause all the hurt sure ain’t worth
All the guilt they’d feel
I love this group—Little Big Town–and their newest, “Happy People,” is an example of why: they are smart, original and quirky. Good storytellers with good stories to tell, that range from sexual longing (Girl Crush) to songs about relationships (Tornado) to their newest, “Happy People.”
“Happy People” will definitely lift your spirits– who doesn’t welcome a song that delivers 3-minutes of upbeat positivity? It’s not as fizzy as Donna Fargo’s 1972 “Happiest Girl In The Whole U.S.A” which included a real, live “skip-a-dee-doo-dah” in the lyrics, however, given today’s global circumstances, we’re glad to have Little Big Town’s contribution to a world-wide good vibe.
Nashville is paying its respects to the band: They performed at the Ryman Auditorium, Country music’s “Mother Church,” for two nights in Feb., and are on for four more shows later this year.
Little Big Town
Formed in 1998
Twenty-four of their songs have made the Country charts.
The foursome take turns singing lead, and are heavy on four-part vocal harmonies.
