On Monday night, “The Voice” kicks off its 14th season, and Kelly Clarkson will be joining  Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as  the show’s newest judge.

Clarkson was the very first “American Idol” winner (2002); when comparing the two shows, she favors “The Voice,” because it holds blind auditions, an element where judges cannot see the contestant, only hear them sing. That, she said makes it “all about the talent.”

After winning “American Idol,” Clarkson became a star.  Her last release was a huge hit. (We loved it.  https://boomermusicupdate.com/top-40/kelly-clarkson-shows-respect/ ) and her newest, soul-inspired “I Don’t Think About You,” (already top 30 on the Adult Top 40 format) showcases her powerful voice.

(Just so you know:  “American Idol” gets a reboot next month.)
