The annual Billboard Music Awards are on TV this Sunday night ( May 20th) on NBC (8ET/5PT) with Janet Jackson receiving their “ICON” award, in recognition of her long and successful career: recall that she was only 20 y/o, in 1986, when “When I Think Of You” hit #1 on the Pop chart.
As part of the tribute, Jackson will perform, her first TV performance in nearly a decade.
At 52-years old, Jackson is tad too young to quality as a “Boomer,” but she gets a BoomerMusic shout out, anyway, for her talents as a singer, songwriter and performer.
Jackson kicks off her 56-city tour–“The State Of The World”–on July 7th in New Orleans.
