Co-written by Kenny Gamble, who was inspired by his own mother, “I’ll Always Love My Mama,” by the The Intruders, reached top 10 on the R&B chart in 1973 and has since become somewhat of a Mothers Day anthem.
Although not as famous as Motown, the duo of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff had dozens of hits on the Philadelphia International label with acts such as The O’Jays, Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes and Teddy Pendergrass.
