Today Dave is connecting Matt and Kim’s “Hey There” with “oldie” “Mambo #5” –I’ve never heard of either one,  but that’s OK, ‘cause now I’m jumpin’ for joy –both songs are non-stop high energy!

“Hey Now” is a party song by Brooklyn based duo Matt and Kim that is gaining traction in the “Alternative” format.  The song is great, yet it’s the video that is So. Much. Fun. Kim’s dancing pops and rocks–she flies all over the place.

Matt and  Kim’s music has sound and production values that are much bigger than the average duo delivers.

In in the same vein—bouncy, crisp, and jaunty, and with a few familiar chords, is 1999’s “Mambo No.5” by one hit wonder Lou Bega which reached #1 all over the world– it’s about girls—lots of them– Jessica and Erica, and Rita and Gina and all the other names you can think of.  The video includes great film clips of vintage, 1940’s jive supper clubs.

These songs aren’t for “thinking about,” they are for “dancing to.”
