This week’s “Weekly Whatever” is about Country Music SuperStar Carrie Underwood, who will release her first album since 2012, next month; the first single from that album is out now, and it’s more than a big deal, it’s a Country music industry-wide event, and the result, as Dave put it, is “that ”Smoke Break “ is being played on every country station with an antennae” and it’s also number one on the i-tunes Country chart.

Carrie Underwood is enormously popular, as a a singer who’s won dozens of industry awards and sold millions of records, and also the co-host the annual County Music Association awards, and as  the voice of Sunday Night Football on NBC, singing the opening song each week.

The subject matter of “Smoke Break,” which is more stripped down and gritty than Underwood’s usual fare, is that we are all way busy and over scheduled, and what we need to do is take a “smoke break”– it’s a metaphor for little breather, a moment to to just kick back—in no way is Carrie promoting smoking.

So, how does the song actually sound: Slick production, and lots of corn pone.
