“You’re just too good to be true/can’t take my eyes off of you” …

53 years ago Frankie Valli made made musical history with the enduring “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”‘ which is, as we speak, being introduced to a new generation of Top 40 listeners via electronic music wunderkind Surf Mesa aka Powell Aguirre…he’s 20  years old, from Seattle, now based in Los Angeles, and he has reinvented the song, renaming it “ily (I Love You Baby)” adding vocals by another twenty year old, Tik Tok star Emilee..nee Emilee Flood.

Their version is “modernized”: the basics are the same: the refrain, the lyrics, the tune, the tempo, but it’s got overdubs, hipster edits, female vocals, electronic additions.  Totally recognizable, but…refreshed.

“ily ( I Love You Baby)” is a global sensation. reaching hit status from Europe (Germany and The Netherlands) to Asia ( Malaysia and Singapore).

The words are timeless and apply to new, blossoming romance (20-somethings), as well as for couples in long-time relationships (Boomers).

Airplay on Top 40 outlets makes Surf Mesa #13 this week, and it climbs to #42 on Adult Top 40.

Keith Urban hosts, and performers include Luke Combs, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan and more major acts.

For the first time the show is being broadcast from Nashville–and from three different venues: Grand  Old Opry House, The Ryman Auditorium and The Bluebird Cafe.
