British pop phenom and singer/songwriter Dua Lipa ‘s smokin’ new release, the disco-tinged “Levitating” would have been right at home on radio and on dance floors in the 70’s and 80’s, yet it’s connecting in 2020, charting on two formats: #15 on Top 40 and #26 on Adult Top 40.
“Levitating” features rapper DaBaby, a successful singer and songwriter whose awards includes two #l albums; his vocals add an updated vibe to the experience.
Songs (and videos) like these emit heat: gorgeous glammed-out women in high heels and short, shimmery disco dresses, a Busby Berkeley-ish production with art deco decor, music with a sharp, driving beat with lyrics to match–intense sexual chemistry and unstoppable romanticism–reminiscent of the Pointers Sisters 1984 top-three dance/pop sensation “Jump (For My Love).” They swished their skirts and flipped their hair in the air, also delivering lots of heat.
“Levitation” is from Lipa’s new album, “Future Nostalgia,” and is the follow up to her #1 hit, “Break My Heart’.
