Pre-Baby Boomer Mary Wilson (born 1944) was a teenager when she co-founded The Primettes, which then morphed into The Supremes, one of Motown’s most successful acts, died unexpectedly early this month at her home in Las Vegas.

Along with Diana Ross and the late Florence Ballad (who was succeeded by Cindy Birdsong) The Supremes had a head spinning string of hits, beginning in late 1963, with their very first, written by Holland/Dozier/Holland “When The Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes” followed shortly by “Where Did Our Love Go” and “Baby Love,” their first #1 hit.

Several days before her passing, Wilson had recorded a video honoring Black History Month, sharing her excitement about two upcoming releases.

Mary Wilson, who would have turned 77 on March 6th, gifted us with great songs and great memories.
