Images of 9/11 are  seared in the collective world-wide memory, not just Americans, but  millions around the globe;  there are movies, TV shows, poems, articles and and songs about the event and how it effected us, some political, some personal.

Country star Alan Jackson  woke up at 4 in the morning on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, with the melody for “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” in his head:

“I got up and scribbled it down… so I wouldn’t forget it…the next day I started piecing all those verses together that were the thoughts… or visuals I’d had. .. that song was just a gift. I’ve never felt I could take credit for writing it.”

Jackson  performed “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” at the 2021 Memorial Day Concert broadcast by PBS.
