Cage the Elephant won a Grammy for “Best Rock Album” two weeks ago, and their current hit, “Cold Cold Cold” is a good example of why they won.  They are remarkable.

The song is brand new but sounds like it could have been from the 70s—it’s a vibe we all rocked to in songs such as 1966’s “Just Like Me” by Paul Revere & The Raiders.

Both of these bands are from America’s heartland:  Cage The Elephant from Bowling Green, KY.  Paul Revere and his band broke out of the Northwest.  Most importantly “Cold Cold Cold and “Just Like Me” both rock!

Getting right to the point, the lyrics to “Cold Cold Cold” are spare and modern:

Doctor look into my eyes

I’ve been breathing air but there’s no sign of life

Doctor the problem’s in my chest

My heart feels cold as ice but it’s anybody’s guess

About the band:  Cage the Elephant is four core members with a few touring musicians added to the mix.  Although American, they hit their stride in England and currently live there.

They are known for energetic live performances and an eclectic sound.  Influences include: classic rock, funk, blues, and punk. Boomer Music Update is a long-time fan of this band, and posted “Must Listen To” alerts in Nov., 2015 for “Mess Around” https://boomermusicupdate.com/alternative/for-a-good-time-watch-this-video/ and again last summer for “Trouble.”  https://boomermusicupdate.com/alternative/band-weird-name-makes-top-notch-music/

“Cold Cold Cold” is the third single from the now Grammy winning album “Tell Me I’m Pretty.”
