She liked petty crimes, she had green eyes, like mountain dew

Let’s agree that that line, by British singer and musician Bakar, is a knock-out.

“CRACKD,” the European music mag, described  Bakar  as an “indie revivalist” because he’s attempting to “bridge the gap” between musical genres. Elton John is a fan.

She liked petty crimes, she had green eyes, like mountain dew
And where she go, I’ll never know
Her friends bounced too

Those lyrics are more insightful and tougher than the simplistic and lighthearted 1964 hit “Um Um Um Um Um Um” by Chicago style soul singer Major Lance, yet the musical and melodic thread can be heard running through both songs.

Bakar’s single “Hell N Back” is #8 on the Adult Alt chart, and is still climbing.
