Everybody’s heard of Bruce Springsteen, but not as many people know about Kings of Leon, a band that carries the torch of pure rock n’ roll into the 21st century.

Like Springsteen, their songs feel like anthems—manifestos–in your face–the lyrics matter, but it’s the pure rock n’ roll-ness of it all that arouses the fans emotions.

Kings of Leon, formed in 2000, are a family from Nashville, TN.  Last year, their “Waste a Moment” reached #1 on Alternative radio and was featured in Boomer Music Update.com  linked to “Born to Run.”  https://boomermusicupdate.com/alternative/authentic-rock-n-roll-song-kings-leon/

“Reverend,” Kings of Leon’s newest, follows in the path of last year’s success, except that this time around it’s the Adult Alternative format leading the way, placing  “Reverend” in the top 15.  Like “Waste a Moment,” the lyrics don’t make much sense, but they sure sound good.

Listening to “Reverend” you can, once again, hear underpinnings from “The Boss” through a tune he composed more than 40 years ago– “Spirits In The Night”– recorded again two years later, in 1975, by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band.

If “rock n’ roll for rock n’ rolls sake” makes perfect sense to you, and/or you want to rock out while driving, Kings of Leon is your band.
