I don’t know what this song is about, but it has a great line:

You steal the air out of my lungs, you make me feel it

The chorus is good, too:

Just don’t take the money
Just don’t take the money
Just don’t take the money
Just don’t take the money

“Don’t Take the Money” is written and performed by “Bleachers” the alter ego of Jack Antonoff, whose day job is in the band “Fun,” winner of 2013’s Grammy for ”Best New Artist.” “Bleachers” is for Antonoff’s solo work.

Antonoff’s sound was influenced by John Hughes’ iconic movies from the 89s and 90s–  “National Lampoon’s Vacation,” “The Breakfast Club,” “Sixteen Candles”– that  Antonoff says “tied to a time when big songs were great songs” –-the kind of “big” sound you can hear in “Don’t Take The Money” and can also hear in Tears For Fears massive 1985 hit “Everybody  Wants To Rule The World.”

Not only is Jack Antonoff in a lauded band, whose solo work goes to #1, the video that goes with this song is directed by Antonoff’s girlfriend, Lena Dunham, creator and star of HBO’s long running, hip, and popular “Girls.”

“Don’t Take The Money” is top 5 on the Alternative chart.
