Last year Danish group Lucas Graham broke through in a big way and now it seems they’ll have company since another Danish band, a trio called New Politics, is on the rise, with their “One of Us” getting air play on Alternative radio.

Anchored by keyboards, with cerebral, big picture lyrics and a dramatic tone, “One of Us“ gives off a 70s vibe, exemplified by Queen’s 1975 “Bohemian Rhapsody:” the drama, the operatic format and presentation, lyrics that embrace the meaning of life, anchored by the piano.

Here’s a verse from “One of Us” sung con brio:

Everybody needs a place to call their home

Everybody needs someone to call their own

Even when you’re lonely know you’re not alone

You’re one of us, one of us, one of us, one of us

Clever and insightful lines, such as:

Is this your starring role or just a cameo?

 …and

Don’t got much but I got heart and soul

With a refrain:   What are you living for, living for, living?

“New Politics” are not new, having been together for almost a decade, and while they are originally from Copenhagen, they are now Brooklyn based.

The band has released three albums, with a 4th in the works, due for release later this year.
