Numerous sounds and genres weave their way into the music of Dirty Heads, a six-man band from Huntington Beach, CA, but it’s reggae that drives their rock sensibilities, and you know what that means: It’s all good. Mellow to the max. “One Love.”

“Vacation” their newest single, is an uptempo, sunny, feel-good song that delivers a short but powerful message:

A-a-aye, I’m on vacation

Every single day cause I love my occupation

And then, they go deeper, suggesting if you don’t love YOUR occupation—change it.

If you don’t like your life,

Then you should go and change it

Reggae legend Bob Marley wove his philosophy of life into his compositions, too. Could there be a more joyous and uplifting tune than “Three Little Birds,” from his 1977 classic album “Exodus,” with that beautiful, hopeful, reassuring line:

everything little thing is gonna be alright.”

Boomers—we are living in an era of heavy negativity. Listening to “Vacation” or almost anything by Bob Marley, is the antidote, providing “positivity” that transports us, albeit temporarily, to a lighter, less stressful world.
