Icelandic quintet Of Monsters and Men had a mega-hit in 2012 with “Little Talks;”  their latest release “Alligator” is all about the energy–explosive–and the group’s originality.  Creatively, they stand out from much of what is out there today.

I see color raining down

Feral feeling, swaying sound

Wake me up, I’m fever dreaming

“Alligator” is the group’s first new material in four years–it’s been out just over a month and it’s already Top 5 on the Adult Alternative chart, and top 10 on the Alternative chart.

Giving credit where credit is due:  the original “alligator” song by Bill Haley & the Comets (1956), plus nods to Elton John’s “Crocodile Rock” (1972) and  “Alligator Woman,” a  funky R&B sound by Cameo (early 80s).
