Last Friday, all around talent and Grammy winner Dan Auerbach, of the Black Keys, dropped his long anticipated new solo album, and the single, “Shine on Me” is a charmer with a Dire Straits feel—could it be because Mark Knopfler guests on guitar and injects a sound that recalls some of their  big hits –such as “Walk Of Life?”

The lyrics to “Shine on Me” don’t make much sense, but they sound good, and feel good, and that’s enough.

Auerbach says this new album—“Waiting on a Song”– is a  “love letter to Nashville” (his home since 2010) and, in addition to Knopfler, contributors include Duane Eddy and John Prine.

Dan Auerbach sings, plays numerous instruments (most notably guitar), is a skilled producer and as he displays throughout this new album, he’s is also a brilliant writer.
