In 1990, the London Beat’s “I’ve Been Thinking About You” was a worldwide #1 hit, a dance song with a story line that never ages: the lingering thoughts and emotions post breakup.

Three decades later, a new generation is having the same experience and the same emotions, but this time ’round it’s “Heat Waves,” by British foursome Glass Animals, that’s telling the story, with a very modern sound.

You look so broken when you cry
One more and then I’ll say goodbye

Sometimes, all I think about is you
Late nights in the middle of June

I don’t wanna be alone
You know it hurts me too

Band member David Bayley wrote, sang and produced “Heat Waves” and he confirmed  to numerous media that the song is  “about loss and longing.”  It’s currently #10 on Alt and is heating up on both Adult Alt and Adult Top 40 charts.

Slow down the beats of “I’ve Been Thinking About You” and you’ll hear a melodic connection to “Heat Waves.”
