Something about the songs of summer:  up and bouncy, sunny and bight, skimming over real life with a lighthearted touch, even if the storyline is about loss, as is Weezer’s newest, “Feels Like Summer,” a top five alternative hit, it’s a mélange of rock influences infused with a pop style. Despite its sunny sound the storyline is that of the passing of a former lover.

Rolling Stone magazine said  “Feels Like Summer” is “precisely engineered for warm weather.  Weezer built the song around a cheerful springy keyboard riff …”

“Steal My Sunshine,” a late summer 1999 hit by Len, a Canadian duo that also sang of young love, may not have been “engineered for warm weather” but it, too has that light and fluffy summer sound.
