On September 28th, “An American Treasure,” a four CD box set with 60 tracks by Tom Petty, will be released…almost exactly a year from his last performance–which was Sept. 25th 2017, at the Hollywood Bowl.

The songs were selected by Petty’s wife Dana, daughter Adria, two former members of his Heartbreakers band, Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench, plus studio teammate Ryan Ulyate.

A preview of what to expect:  the set includes 1982’s unreleased “Keep A Little Soul” which Adult Alt radio jumped on instantly.  In just a few weeks it’s, raced up the chart where it’s already Top 10.

There’s a melodic foundation in “Keep a Little Soul” that was evident in 1979’s “I Got You” by Split Enz, written by Baby Boomer Neil Finn who later formed Crowded House.
