“You’re The Best Thing About Me,” U2’s newest, has Bono singing about love gone bad.

I’ll be crying out/  How bad can a good boy be
Shooting off my mouth
That’s another great thing about me

I got everything
But I feel like nothing at all
There’s no risky thing
For a man who’s determined to fall

It’s uncanny” how much U2’s new song sounds and feels like 1985’s monster hit “Don’t Forget About Me” by the Scottish group Simple Minds, a song immortalized by its inclusion in the film “The Breakfast Club.” Even though it’s a different look at love, both songs have those “deep”1970s-1980s lyrics and “feel.”

Currently ranking top 10 on Alternative formats, “You’re the Best Thing About Me” is from U2’s upcoming 14th album, “Songs Of Experience” which drops in Dec.
