If you liked Travis Tritt’s “Here’s A Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares),“ than Chris Stapleton’s exceptional “Nobody to Blame” is a “Must Listen To!” Personally, I love this hard-core style– Merle, Waylon, George Jones, and if you do, too, than Chris Stapleton is your guy.
He’s a well known Nashville songwriter, and, as a singer/performer, has been a favorite of the cognoscenti for quite a while, but he’s not on the radio and he’s pretty much unknown to the general population, however, two weeks ago, that all changed when Stapleton won big at the annual Country Music Awards in Nashville: Male Vocalist of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Album, despite never having had a hit single on Country Radio.
He seemed to be as surprised as everyone else.
Stapleton did a duet with Justin Timberlake at that same awards show, and now both Country and Pop radio programmers are paying attention.
“Nobody to Blame” is from the album “Traveller,” the one that just won the CMA “Album of the Year” award. It’s ranked around #40 on the Country charts, and is climbing slowly.
