Come on, people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now

Written by Chet Powers and performed by the Youngbloods, 1967’s “Get Together” hit a national nerve: Simple, straightforward, and oh, so needed.

Flash forward to inauguration night, 2021, the Tom Hanks hosted TV special “Celebrating America,” when Tim McGraw and Tyler Hubbard (the song’s co-writer and half of the duo Florida Georgia Line)  debuted “Undivided,” a twangy Country song with a similar message:

I think it’s time to come together
You and I can make a change
Maybe we can make a difference
Make the world a better place
Look around and love somebody
We’ve been hateful long enough
Let the Good Lord reunite us
‘Til this country that we love’s
Undivided (yeah)

Country radio reacted immediately; programmers in both red and blue states supported it with solid airplay, welcoming its positive message.

“Undivided” is #21 on the Country music chart this week.
