Remember Dan Seals joyous 1986 Country romp “Bop?” “Head Over Boots” has the same effect, thanks to singer/songwriter Jon Pardi who charms us with lines like
You’re the rock in my roll
And
The way you sparkle like a diamond ring
Maybe one day we can make it a thing
Test time and grow old together
Rock in our chairs and talk about the weather, yeah
Jon Pardi is a “new traditionalist” — he said “all I ever wanted to do coming to Nashville was to write rowdy, in-your-face, straight country music.” Mission accomplished. His “classic” country sound includes nasal vocals and a noticeable twang, but this song is lighthearted–no “bro” or drinkin’ or heartache here, this is a feel good song, about the kind of love that puts a spring in your step and a smile on your face.
Pardi’s 2013 “Up All Night” went Top 10 and “Boots” is just now entering Country radio’s Top 20.
He’s 30-years old.
In 2014 he has opened for both Alan Jackson and Dierks Bentley.
Apparently, growing up thousands of miles from Nashville in Northern California didn’t hinder his singing or songwriting.
Dan Seals’ “Bop” went to the top of the Country charts, when he, too, charmed us as he rocked and rolled about how good love can feel.
