There must be a good reason that stories are still told, and songs still sung, about men who cheat on their women…fertile ground for tough, take-no-prisoners Country singers who are pissed-off big time.

Carrie Underwood set the bar when the video to her mega-hit “Before He Cheats” opened with her swinging a baseball bat and smashing the headlights of the cheating boyfriend’s 4-wheel drive.

19-year old Gabby Barrett’s response to a cheater is a more elegant and restrained revenge, but the powerful, soulful  delivery of “I Hope” is almost as fierce as Underwood’s.

Barrett  doesn’t smash car windows;  rather, she sends a similar message by wearing skin tight black leather pants and stiletto heels; her story line starts with kindness and good-will:

Hope you both feel the sparks by the end of the drive
I hope you know she’s the one by the end of the night

But, alas, there are “sucker punch” punch lines:

I hope she comes along and wrecks every one of your plans
I hope you spend your last dime to put a rock on her hand

And then I hope she cheats
Like you did on me
