Midland is a Texas trio that plays traditional Country music, with attitude. A great bar band.
Almost two years ago, they shot into the Country top five with their debut single “Drinkin’ Problem.” Their follow up, “Make A Little,” didn’t get the same trajectory but it got good exposure.
Their third single, “Burn Out,” hit #3 on the Country music chart, and is a throwback to an easy going Country style–think Johnny Lee’s 1980 cross-over hit “Lookin’ For Love” (in all the wrong places)” from the “Urban Cowboy” movie soundtrack.
It’s uncanny how similarly captivating those two-songs are; both are muy mellow, rhythmically soothing and swing-y, with smart but undemanding lyrics. And easy to dance to.
BoomerMusicUpdate raved about Midland’s ”Drinkin’ Problem” which also had a mellow swing and clever lines. https://boomermusicupdate.com/country/first-really-good-drinkin-song-long-time/
People say I have a drinking problem But, I got no problem drinking at all
Lagniappe: The video is hot! Wall to wall tall Texas women dancing in their Daisy Dukes and cowboy boots, with Midland lead singer Mark Wystrach awesomely buff and sweaty.
