Even though 1983’s Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton hit “Islands In The Stream” was about two people who found love, and Dierks Bentley’s newest, with rock star Elle King, “It’s Different for Girls” describes the emotional contrasts in romance between the sexes, they are similar songs because both tell a story backed by a similar easygoing, smooth, melodic lilt.

“It’s Different for Girls” is a creative, powerful duet that is the latest example of a Country music trend:  duets with non-Country artists. Of course, there’s always been blurring of the genre: ten years ago rocker Jon Bon Jovi scored a huge pop hit with “Who Says You Can’t Go Home”—later he recorded a Country version with Sugarland’s  Jennifer Nettles, which reached number one on the Country chart.

Trending now is a Major County Star pairing with a Non-Country
Star, of equal popularity and stature.

Just a few weeks ago Major Country Star Brad Paisley released his new single, a duet,  “Without A Fight” with pop sensation Demi Lovato.

Elle King is best known for last years Top 40 smash “Ex’s & Oh’s”.
