Both Pop and Country fans are loving Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant To Be” which is charting on both formats, and following in that same path is Country’s Chris Lane’s duet with popster Tori Kelly on “Take Back Home Girl,” climbing the Country chart as we speak.

Enter Keith Urban, Country Mega-Star, partnering with Pop-Star singer/songwriter Julia Michaels, and their new single, “Coming Home” which got immediate and widespread airplay, zoomed up the charts, and is already #24.

“Coming Home” pays homage to the late, great Merle Haggard, borrowing his memorable intro from “Mama Tried,” one of Urban’s favorite Merle Haggard songs, and that’s pretty much where the similarity between “Coming Home” and traditional Country part ways–after all, “Mama Tried” was a hit 50 years ago–when prison and train songs were hot–that was then, and this is now.

Keith Urban is Country royalty (he just won the CMA award for  “Song of the Year” and was nominated for the prestigious CMA “Entertainer of the Year” award) ergo, he and his songs are top tier–“Coming Home” is his contribution to this Pop & Country Duets Moment.

So what does it sound like?  “Home” where they “really” know you?   An urban, (no pun intended), global, 21st century world filtered through a Country music microphone.

Julia Michaels’ 2017 debut single is certified platinum and she’s been nominated for Grammy’s for Song of the Year and Best New Artist.
