Each summer has a handful of signature songs. Pink had one, in 2001, “Get The Party Started” and now, 15 years later, Country star Thomas Rhett’s “Vacation” keeps the party going with that same high energy, care free spirit.
Rhett has been on one of the hottest streaks in Country. He’s just coming off of his sixth consecutive number one and we expect “Vacation” to keep his momentum going through the summer. BTW, his summer vacation includes drinking, skydiving, and beautiful, buff, people on beautiful blue water beaches. Party Time!
“Vacation” isn’t a new or original title–it was a winner in the early 60’s for Connie Francis and in the early 80’s it was magic for The Go-Go’s.
No matter that the song titles are the same, and the tunes vastly different—the takeaway is that whenever you hear a “Special Summer Song” you are instantly transported to that time and place, the song evoking the smells, sounds, images and feelings of that “Special Summer,” be it 2001 or 2016. “Special Summer Songs” become part of the soundtrack of our life.
