Thanks to the exposure they got back in the early days of MTV, just about everybody has heard of Duran Duran, and, if you are or were into Pop music, then you’ll recall their massive hit “Hungry Like The Wolf.”
“Pressure Off” is the first single from their new album (Paper Gods), and it it has the spark, energy and larger than life “Duran Duran” sound of their earlier material, plus a boost from super talented singer Janelle Monae.
It’s been more than 30 years, but you’ll recognize their trademark sound and style, just more polished and contemporary, thanks to the brilliant crafting by production gurus Mark Ronson and Nile Rodgers of Chic fame.
“Pressure Off” brings to mind “Shout” a 30-year oldie by Tears For Fears; both songs resonate with power and punch.
Pop music fills a niche that we all need, at least some of the time– a catchy melody, a groove, it’s like a 3-minute mental break from our busy, hyper-paced and techno-saturated lives.
