Dave hears the distinct strains of David Bowie’s vocals from “Space Odyssey” in “Cecilia And The Satellite” by singer/song writer Andrew McMahon, and to further the connection, although the themes of the two songs are quite different, he notes that one does have “Satellite” in the title, while other has “Space.”

“Cecilia” is a beautiful song, and McMahon is clearly a wonderful, tender, storyteller: a dad singing to his young daughter, baring his soul, so to speak. The video is a touching ode not only to the child, but also to his wife.

“Space Odyssey” is still a good listen albeit a bit “70s:” indulgent, with wavy gravy sounds.
