Oooh, this time out Dave is after the music aficionado, connecting Thomas Rhett’s “Crash and Burn,” a country hit, to Sam Cooke’s 1960 “Chain Gang,” and as usual, Dave’s right on the money.
Dave picked up on “Crash & Burn’s” backing vocals, pointing out how much they sound like the “oohs and ahh’s” from the Sam Cooke classic. Yes, I heard them!
Rhett’s on a winning streak– he’s coming off three #1 hits—and he’s only 24!
“Crash & Burn” is #57 with a bullet on Billboard’s chart and while it’s well done and lively and relevant, it just isn’t in the same class as “Chain Gang,” but, no matter, not every song can be great. The main thing is that we all stay connected to “today’s hot hits.”
