“Renegades” reminds us how exciting new music is, and how much good stuff is out there. Performed by X Ambassadors, a New York foursome, “Renegades” is quickly emerging as a multi-format success story.

The story line: two kids on the run, living as outsiders. It’s a great pop song:  tight, solid, a catchy hook, plus insightful, poetic lyrics–it’s similar to 1979’s cross-over sensation, also by a British rock band, “Driver’s Seat” by Sniff ‘n’ the Tears.

“Renegade” started on alternative and adult alternative rock radio, quickly gained traction on pop stations, and is now climbing the charts.  It will probably land in the “Top Ten” within a month.

Details

The band has been together since about 2009, but they’ve known each other since childhood.  Members are:  Sam Harris, and his brother Casey Harris, Noah Feldshuh and Adam Levin. Casey Harris has been blind since birth.

 The Video

The whole video focuses on physically challenged people involved in demanding, challenging sports:  boxing, hiking, skiing, weight lifting.  Some are blind, some without limbs…I guess those are the renegades?
