Fellow Boomers, do you remember those 1950s Buchanan & Goodman “Flying Saucer” songs, which interspersed clips from other hits into a crazy, sci-fi narrative?

Today, mixing up clips from several different hits is called a mashup and it’s an art form—and the top guy is San Francisco DJ Earworm.  Even though he’s been at it for years, he’s outdone even himself with this year’s 5-minute wrap-up “United State Of Pop 2015” (50 Shades Of Pop) which covers most of the year’s pop/rock musical highlights:

Adele, Justin Beiber, Selena Gomez, Adam Levine, Bruno Mars, Rhianna, Taylor Swift, Meghan Trainor, Kanye West and more.

Also talented in the mashup arena is Jive Bunny.  In 1989 he put together a 13-minute mix of 50s-60s-70s rockabilly/ rock & roll classics that includes Chuck Berry, Chubby Checker, Dion, Elvis, the Everly Bros., Little Richard and other mega-stars from that era.

Both of these two mashups are sophisticated, hip, and high energy, with seamless editing.

Enjoy!
