Superstar rapper/singer/songwriter/record producer/actor and entrepreneur Drake’s latest top 40 hit, “Don’t Matter to Me” features vocals by the late Michael Jackson, snippets from an unreleased 1982 recording session between Jackson and Drake’s fellow Canadian, singer-songwriter Paul Anka…of “Puppy Love” and “Put Your Head on My Shoulder” fame, and who is credited as a co-writer of several songs made famous by the “King of Pop,” i.e. “Love Never Felt So Good” and “This is It.”
“Don’t Matter To Me” is smooth and silky, classic romantic pop, a style that worked for Michael Jackson and works for Drake as well. This cut channels MJ’s distinctive ballad-y vocals, and especially brings to mind his hit “Human Nature.”
“Don’t Matter to Me” is an international hit, and is from Drake’s 5thand most recent album, “Scorpion,” which has just been nominated for a Grammy for “Album of the Year.”
Drakes 2010 debut album, “Thank Me Later,” debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and he’s continued with that level of success. His follow-up albums were critically and commercially successful, earning him a Grammy for Best Rap Album, and breaking several sales, streaming and chart records.
