Charlie Puth singing “Marvin Gaye” (that’s the title).  There’s a cameo by mega-pop-star Meghan Trainor. Her 2014 “All About That Bass” has almost 934 million Youtube hits.

The whole thing is referred to as “Charlie Puth ft Meghan Trainor sing ‘Marvin Gaye.’” The ft is for “featuring” which is what a cameo is called now.

Charlie Puth, an adorable, creative 24-year old singer/songwriter from New Jersey, is sizzling, having recently topped the charts with “See You Again,” his duet with Wiz Khalifa.

Dave links “Marvin Gaye” to 1961’s classic “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King. Even though the “Marvin Gaye” tempo is slower, Dave hears a “shuffle woven into the Charlie Puth track” that’s evocative of that inescapable, mesmerizing background sound in “Stand By Me.”

The video and lyrics are raunchy, but in a fun way.

Proof that Boomers (Still) Rule

Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On,” one 1973’s biggest hits, inspired Puth, even though it was recorded nearly 20 years before he was even born!
