Summertime inspires songs, from “Summertime Blues” onward, there is a long list of hits inspired by this time of year.
Maroon 5 currently has a big hit with “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt Like A Mother****,” but the most recent is “Cool For The Summer” by former Disney star Demi Lovato. Fun, upbeat with it’s subtext of bi-sexuality, the song was released early this month and is already set to enter the Top 10.
While not a summer song, Madonna’s 1984 smash dance track “Lucky Star” featured a groove in much the same way as Demi is doing in summer 2015.
After listening to each of the songs, I’m forced to state “Demi Lovato, you are no Madonna.” Could be my age, but Demi just doesn’t do it for me. Too generic? Or is it just uninspired? No matter, the point is to be aware of the new music that’s out there, and, now we know!
