The name of the song is “Perfect,” and, alas, it is.  This song floats:  it’s  touching, uplifting, and a has a memorable and catchy hook.

It’s Pop, but even if Pop isn’t your cup of tea,  if  you have the normal amount of emotional memory and the ability to connect to feelings,  “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran might be an exception.  It’s that good.

“Perfect” is a lyrical gem bolstered by an almost doo-wop like melody meant for a slow dance.  Sheeran wrote the song about his girlfriend and while there’s a young love aspect to parts of the message, the pangs of romantic fervor are felt not only by the young, but also the young at heart.  It’s a timeless theme that we Boomers slow danced to in 1961’s The Letterman’s “The Way You Look Tonight.”

Ed Sheeran is a 26-year old English singer/songwriter/guitarist/record producer:  A wunderkind millennial poster child:  rumpled and tattooed, with bed-head hair, and insanely talented.

His 2017 mega-hit “Shape Of You” is the most streamed track of all time on Spotify and will probably wind up as the #1 pop song of 2017.

His album “Divide” is 2017’s top seller, by far; “Perfect” is it’s’ fourth single.  This week it ranks  #15 on Adult Top 40,  #30 on mainstream Top 40.
